R&M Identifies Special Requirements & Features to Avoid Mid-Project Change Orders

When targeting lead times, our priority is to assess the exact specifications needed at final installation of our products. Why? Change orders during existing projects that are already kicked off will significantly impact project lead times.

At R&M Materials Handling, we strive to minimize installation costs for end users, and lead time management is an important part of meeting that goal. Complicated projects introduce the potential for longer lead times, and so we identify factors like special capacity ranges and features early in the process. We also work to facilitate crane installation as early as possible, and when feasible, before a building and much of its infrastructure is in place. Constructing a building around a crane, rather than installing a crane afterwards, can simplify the installation process and reduce costs for both the crane installation and the overall building construction, saving end users time and money.

By taking the time to understand your project and the imperative requirements and features, we can accurately target lead times and ensure timely delivery.

Standard Lead Time Examples

  • Quick Delivery – Our quick delivery wire rope hoists and modular crane packages can be produced in-house at our Springfield headquarters and delivered in three weeks. This offering is made of many of our most common products. Our single girder crane packages are available up to 10 tons (10,000 kg) and our double girder crane packages up to 20 tons (20,000 kg) within the Quick Delivery lead time. Everything is built and tested as a complete system, meaning you do not compromise quality and accuracy for quick lead times.
  • Light Lifting – For lower capacity applications, we can provide manual chain hoists or electric chain hoists in three days. Even for light-lifting installations, our equipment is custom-built to the specifics of your order (lifting height, environmental considerations, feature set, etc.), creating a specialized solution that doesn’t compromise on timely delivery.
  • Standard Delivery – R&M’s standard delivery covers every product we offer in our broad product portfolio and ranges from 11-17 weeks, depending on special capacity ranges or other features. Special features include outdoor equipment, hazardous location features and even specialty electronics (for example, intelligent controls, micro-speed and hoist synchronization).

It's important to note that the lead times provided here are for the components only. Additional building at the crane builder facility may be necessary before installation at the end user’s site.

Delivering on Commitments

We work to ensure timely delivery and installation that fits into your overall project schedule. Every week, we work with the factory to closely monitor output and prioritize workflow. For standard delivery projects, we track shipments to reduce the chance of mis-timed delivery

At R&M, our aim is to deliver products that go above and beyond expectations. We believe that both our products, and our distributor partnerships, should be reliable and long-lasting. From the beginning of the quoting process, we leverage our 90 years of experience to make a project plan that prevents delays and considers all angles of the final application.
